OUGD501 - COP PRACTICAL IDEAS

COP PRACTICAL IDEAS

For the practical side of this module, I have come up with a couple of things that I could produce, which would work well alongside my written piece.

My first idea I came up with was to create a Zine that celebrated various political campaigns that uses effective Graphic design. Regardless of how that politician did in that particular campaign, it is important to look into the use of design, and how certain politicians used design to their advantage to have promotional material that fit in with their beliefs.

The next idea was based on voting, after seeing a few campaigns encouraging younger people to vote, and seeing the statistics in voting in young people, I felt as though it was a fitting topic to cover. There are so many campaigns that attempt to grab the attention of youths, trying to encourage them to vote, however a lot of them use a similar aesthetic, and are rather dull. This was where I thought I could step in, attesting to design a campaign that would grab the attention of young people. Myself being a young person, I believe I could bring an element of youthfulness and freshness to this task.

After discussing the ideas with my tutor, we decided that the campaign would be more appropriate and would be more fitting for my written piece. I am going to research into existing campaigns, and also look into what sort of things younger people interact with, in order to design something that would engage my target audience effectively.
